What does FAFSA stand for?
Free Application for Federal Student Aid
What Is the FAFSA?
The FAFSA allows students to qualify for all types of federal aid, not just loans, and almost everyone who applies will receive some type of aid. The FAFSA:
• Is the path to:
- Federal grants and student loans
- State grants and scholarships
- Many school scholarships
• Takes most applicants about an hour to complete
• Should be completed as soon as possible after January 1 for the best shot at limited funds like state grant
• Is absolutely FREE
Why FAFSA?
To get money for college! The only way students can qualify to receive federal loans and grants— and many state grants— to go to college is by completing the FAFSA.
Unfortunately, many students don’t know about it or think they’re not eligible to apply. That’s free money not being claimed by students in need!
